ALAN ASHKINAZY - OWNER/HEAD HITTING INSTRUCTOR
Alan Ashkinazy founded THE GREENSBORO BATTING CENTER in February of 1987. Alan grew up in the streets of New York
City and brings a tough enthusiasm to the game of baseball. After graduating from The New York Institute of Technology, he was drafted by
The Boston Red Sox and played for The Greensboro Hornets in 1985 and 1986. As a member of the Hornets Alan:

was a member of the South Atlantic League All-Star Team in
'85
-
led the Hornets in stolen bases both
years

was among the career leaders in stolen bases, walks, at bats, and
hits
-
currently is a member of the Greensboro Hornets All-Time
Team
Alan began coaching in 1990 at Greensboro Day School and has not stopped to this day! His high school coaching continued at
Ben L. Smith High School and at Grimsley High School, all in Greensboro. He has accomplished much in the competitive team arena
as well. Some of his coaching accomplishments have included but are in no way limited to:

1994 APWU (17-18 yr olds) Palomino World Championship with berths
to the Palomino World Series the next two seasons.

1998 and 1999 Pleasant Garden Mustang All-Star Team (9-10 yr olds)
to a World Series berth in Irving, Texas.

2000 Colt All-Stars (15-16 yr olds) to the Zone Championship
Game.

2002 GBC 13U AAU team won a Nation Title in Sarasota,
Florida

2005, 2006, and 2008 Head coach for World Series participant
Colt teams

Selected to the Region 5 coaching staff for the 2008 State
Games
Alan is considered by many to be the best hitting
instructor in The Triad!
