
MIKE BAKER - HITTING AND FIELDING INSTRUCTOR
Mike grew up playing baseball in Southern California. He attended the University of Nevada Reno on
a baseball scholarship where he began his studies in Physiology of Exercise. Mike later finished with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Sports Medicine from Guilford College. Mike continues to run a Post-Rehab and Sports Medicine Business he began in 1996. He
founded MBi Sports Management in May 2009, where he advises high school and college players about
the college and professional process and represents professional players with contract negotiations and endorsement opportunities. Two of the
professional players he represents have come through the GBC, CJ Beatty of the St. Louis Cardinals organization and Tyler Sexton with the
Baltimore Orioles organization. Both continue to benefit greatly from the baseball and training instruction from the GBC and Carolina
Acceleration respectively. Some of his Baseball and Academic accomplishments include:
- Drafted by the Red Sox in the 1986 June Draft
- MVP of Rookie Professional Season
- USA Baseball Ambassador to Europe in 1982
- Coached with Alan Ashkinazy at the high school and showcase level
- Member of the American College of Sports Medicine
- Lifetime Member of the Professional Baseball Players of America.
Mike has experienced and observed powerful lessons from sports and studied its relation to performance, both
mental and physical and brings that success to the GBC. Mike is having a positive impact on clients by utilizing his years of
experience and relationship building with other baseball professionals. He really appreciates the opportunity to make a difference in
athletes lives by guiding them through the process of change from amateur status to a professional. He resides in Greensboro with his
beautiful wife Sandy, their two children, Courtney and Cody, and their new Bernese Mountain Dog...RENO! They have lived in Greensboro since
1987 when Mike was a member of the Greensboro Hornets.
